Yuvraj Singh was born in a Punjabi family. His father, Yograj Singh, was a former actor and an Indian cricketer too. His mother is Shabnam Singh. You might be surprised to know that cricket was not Yuvraj's first choice. His father forced him to focus on cricket and took him for training every single day.

He completed his schooling at DAV Public School, Chandigarh, and graduated from Punjab University, Chandigarh. He has also acted in two Punjabi movies as a child actor.

  • Youth Career Yuvraj has been a champion player since the beginning. He has played Ranji Trophy and has given some of the most memorable moments. His 358 runs against Bihar, 149 runs against Haryana, all-rounder performance in U-19 World Cup, 2000, etc. These outstanding performances helped him make a place in the Indian team.
  • International Debut After his impressive performance in U-19 World Cup, Yuvraj got a chance to play for the Indian team. He played some brilliant knocks and won many Man-of-the-Match awards too.
  • 2007 T20I World Cup Yuvraj Singh's performance in the T20I World Cup was phenomenal. He was also the vice-captain and helped India lift the first-ever trophy of the T20I World Cup. Yuvraj scored the fastest fifty against England in that tournament. He became the first Indian cricketer to hit 6-sixes in an over. Yuvraj also won many Man-of-the-Match awards.
  • 2011 World Cup Yuvraj played in the World Cup while fighting cancer. He became Man of the Series and was the first all-rounder to take 15 wickets and score 300 plus runs. He won 4 Man of the Match awards, one of the highest by any player in a single World Cup tournament. India lifted that World Cup after 28 years and, we couldn't thank Yuvraj Singh enough for this.
  • Comeback Yuvraj Singh returned to the game after winning his battle with cancer. He got selected for various matches. But unfortunately, his performances were mixed. He also didn't get selected for the 2015 World Cup, despite being a senior player in the 2011 World Cup.

Yuvraj Singh - Cancer Battle

Yuvraj was diagnosed with cancer (Semiona Lung Cancer) while playing for the 2011 World Cup. He didn't tell this anyone and continued playing for his team. Such dedication for the team is very rare.

Yuvraj only went for the treatment after the World Cup. His chemotherapy got done in Boston and Indianapolis. It was a difficult stage for him and his family. But with God's grace, he recovered completely after his third and final chemotherapy. He returned to India in March 2012 (after a year-long battle with cancer).

Yuvraj Singh - Retirement

Yuvraj took retirement from International Cricket on 10th June 2019 through a press conference in Mumbai. He retired from all the formats and recounted his best and worst memories of the game. He decided to focus on his philanthropy and help as many cancer patients as he can.

His decision did shatter a lot of his fans. People expected him to play for a little longer.

Yuvraj being the legendary player, every team wanted to buy him. He has played with various franchises such as Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians, and Pune Warriors.
