The early life of Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai was born in an ordinary family on 12 July 1972 in Madurai city of Tamil Nadu. His father was an electrical engineer, and his mother was a stenographer. He was brought up in a small two-room house due to his father's limited income. But one thing that his father always stressed was the education of his children. Sundar was a brilliant student in studies as well as sports. He also had a fantastic ability to remember all the numbers.

Higher studies

After his studies, he cracked the IIT entrance examination and got admission to IIT Kharagpur in the Metallurgical and Material Science branch. He was a topper in his college life also. It shows the value of persistence in life. After that, he got a scholarship to study at Stanford University in the USA, after which he did masters in Material Science and Engineering. In 1998, the world's most used search engine, Google, was developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. After completing his studies, Mr Sundar Pichai came for an interview in Google on 1 April 2004. Initially, he was a little baffled when interviewers asked him questions on Gmail. But after some time, when he was asked to operate Gmail, the interviewers became impressed. He was instantly given a job in the Google toolbar and search department. This incident teaches us that even if our first impression went terrible, don't worry; you can still change the game.

Strides made by him in Google: Google chrome project and Sundar's far-sightedness:

Mr Pichai was placed in the Google toolbar and search engine department. This search engine used to be the default option in Microsoft Internet explorer. But Sundar realized that there could be times when Microsoft will create its search engine. That can negatively impact Google. Therefore he presented his proposal of the google Chrome project to then CEO, Eric Schmidt. But Sundar did not give up. Finally, he got permissions from Google makers Larry Page and Sergey brin to work on the Google chrome project.

As anticipated by Sundar, Microsoft removed Google as the default search engine and set its search engine, leading to major losses to Google. But Sundar's far-sightedness worked in favour of Google, and within 24 hours, he was able to identify the flaws of Internet Explorer and got back 60% of Google users. After this incident, Google signed a deal with significant computer distributors like HP that made Google the default search engine.

Finally, in 2012, he bagged the position of vice president of Google App and Chrome. Sundar Pichai is also recognized for his outstanding contributions to the project left by Mr Andy Rubin.
