Taapsee Pannu is an engineer by profession and had completely 0 knowledge of acting in her early days. But this girl’s hard work and dedication to her work proved that you could achieve anything you want. Who would have thought that a girl with completely no acting background will make this big in Bollywood? She is now one of the leading actresses in the film industry and, every actor wants to work with her. She is known for choosing unconventional roles for her and does complete justice to all those roles.
Tapsee completes her schooling at Mata Jai Kaur Public School, Delhi, and then completed her graduation from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institue of Technolgy in Computer Science. She has been an intelligent kid from her childhood and a very stubborn girl too. She worked as a software engineering and then started modeling under various agencies.
Taapsee did numerous ads and commercials during her modeling days. She also participated in the Femina Miss India Contest in 2008. Pannu won 2 titles in that contest and, this eventually led her to her acting career.
Taapsee was born in a Sikh family. Her roots are in Punjab but, she was born and brought up in Delhi. Her father, Dilmohan Singh Pannu, was a real estate agent and her mother, Nirmal Jeet, is a housewife. She also has one elder sister Shagun Pannu with whom she manages a business, The Wedding Factory.
Taapsee debuted in 201 from a Telugu film Jhummandi Naadam. She got three more films even before the release of her first movie. She also worked in Tamil and Malayalam films such as Aadukalam, Doubles, etc. Her movie Aadulkalm won 6 awards in the 58th National Film Awards. She has worked in over 20 plus films in the South Indian Film Industry and debuted in the Hindi Film from David Dhawan’s directed film. Her first film was Chashme Badoor, opposite Ali Zafar and Divyendu Sharma. The film didn’t receive good reviews and also performed moderately on the box office.
After doing some moderate roles in Bollywood, she received a good project from Soojit Sircar. He offered her a lead role opposite Amitabh Bachchan. The movie was Pink and, it was a box office hit that helped Taapsee gain a lot of appreciation from the critics. The film has a turning point for her career in the Bollywood industry. She continued doing films in the Tamil and Telugu industry as well. Pannu starred in various Hindi movies such as Judwaa 2, Mulk, Manmarziyaan, etc. Her role in Marmarziyyan was highly critically acclaimed and, the film was also featured at Toronto International Film Festival 2018.
After doing Manmarziyaan, there was no going back for Tapsee. She continued getting some outstanding works and, she outperformed every role. Taapsee’s next movie opposite Amitabh Bachchan was Badla and, it was a massive hit on the box office. She then starred in blockbuster hit movies like Mission Mangal, Saand Ki Aankh, Thapaad, etc. Pannu won many awards for her acting in these movies, including Filmfare Award as well. She received a lot of appreciation for her natural acting skills from many film critics including, Anupama Chopra and Rajeev Masand.
Taapsee has a lot of good films in the line. The coming years are going to be very exciting for her and her fans. She will be acting in several different roles from which we have a lot of expectations. Her most awaited project is Mithali Raj’s biopic which Taapsee will be in the lead role. The film is named Shaabash Mithu and will most probably release in 2022. She will also act in HaseenaDillruba against Vikrant Massey that is a murder mystery. There are several other upcoming projects too, but most of them are not yet officially announced.
