Google has become an inseparable part of our day-to-day life. But do you know who its CEO is? It is none other than Sundar Pichai. He is an Indian-origin American and the CEO of one of the most popular search engines in the world. But how do you think he achieved this milestone? In this article, I will tell you the success story of Sundar Pichai that will motivate you to come out of your comfort zone and do something extraordinary in your life.

The early life of Sundar Pichai

Sundar Pichai was born in an ordinary family on 12 July 1972 in Madurai city of Tamil Nadu. His father was an electrical engineer, and his mother was a stenographer. He was brought up in a small two-room house due to his father's limited income. But one thing that his father always stressed was the education of his children. Sundar was a brilliant student in studies as well as sports. He also had a fantastic ability to remember all the numbers.

Higher studies

After his studies, he cracked the IIT entrance examination and got admission to IIT Kharagpur in the Metallurgical and Material Science branch. He was a topper in his college life also. It shows the value of persistence in life. After that, he got a scholarship to study at Stanford University in the USA, after which he did masters in Material Science and Engineering. He has also done an MBA from Wharton School of Pennsylvania University. His consistency and perseverance have been his constant supporters in his studies.

How did Sundar Pichai get associated with Google?

In 1998, the world's most used search engine, Google, was developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. After completing his studies, Mr Sundar Pichai came for an interview in Google on 1 April 2004. Initially, he was a little baffled when interviewers asked him questions on Gmail. But after some time, when he was asked to operate Gmail, the interviewers became impressed. He was instantly given a job in the Google toolbar and search department. This incident teaches us that even if our first impression went terrible, don't worry; you can still change the game.

Strides made by him in Google: Google chrome project and Sundar's far-sightedness:

Mr Pichai was placed in the Google toolbar and search engine department. This search engine used to be the default option in Microsoft Internet explorer. But Sundar realized that there could be times when Microsoft will create its search engine. That can negatively impact Google. Therefore he presented his proposal of the google Chrome project to then CEO, Eric Schmidt. But Sundar did not give up. Finally, he got permissions from Google makers Larry Page and Sergey brin to work on the Google chrome project.

As anticipated by Sundar, Microsoft removed Google as the default search engine and set its search engine, leading to major losses to Google. But Sundar's far-sightedness worked in favour of Google, and within 24 hours, he was able to identify the flaws of Internet Explorer and got back 60% of Google users. After this incident, Google signed a deal with significant computer distributors like HP that made Google the default search engine.

This incident reveals that you cannot rely on the present status quo, and you have to be far-sighted in a business.

Mr Pichai becomes Senior Vice President:

The makers recognized Sundar Pichai's far-sightedness, abilities, and intelligence. His success in the Google chrome project, which was launched in 2008, bagged him the senior vice president of this major company. It was his idea that has now become the most utilized web browser in the world. This incident is a significant lesson for all of us in the sense that you don't always need recommendations of influential people for your promotion; if you are hard-working, then you will get promoted in your life.

Sundar becomes Vice President and presently the CEO of Google:

The success of his idea has also made him popular among Google makers and top decision-makers. In 2008 he was promoted to the post of Vice President of Project Development. Finally, in 2012, he bagged the position of vice president of Google App and Chrome. Sundar Pichai is also recognized for his outstanding contributions to the project left by Mr Andy Rubin.

His constant efforts towards the success of Google made him the head of all Google products like Google search, Google Maps, Google ads, etc. Finally, in 2015 Sundar Pichai was declared as the CEO of Google. He is not only the CEO of Google but also the parent company of Google, i.e. Alphabet. He has continued to make innovations in services offered by Google to reach a new consumer base. Sundar Pichai has made it to top Indian origin executives with his net worth of approx. Rs. 335 crore.

The present success of Google

The success of Google is self-evident. Google has become the most extensive Operating system in all smartphones. Google has also become the most valuable company globally, with a worth of nearly $522 Billion. There is no stopping the success of Google. Day by day, it is growing, and it is launching different apps like Google pay, tankmates, Wifinanscan app, and much more. But one cannot imagine this success without the hard work, dedication, and support of Mr Sundar Pichai.
